Active Mobility in Action – International Active Mobility Photo Competition

Capture your favourite walking or cycling routes and share your unique perspective on active mobility. Show us how you move sustainably and healthily through your city. Each city draws 3 prizes among the participants.
Technical details

The SUMPs for BSR project invite participants from Cesis (LV), Gävle (SE), Gdynia (PL), Greifswald (DE), Panevėžys (LT), Turku (FI) and the whole of Estonia to participate in International Active Mobility Photo Competition by capturing and sharing their walking or cycling routes, everyday commute and leisure walking and cycling exercises highlighting the theme of active mobility. How does active mobility show in the surroundings of participants? What kind of signs of active mobility do they spot?

This initiative is part of the SUMPs for BSR – enhancing effective Sustainable Urban Mobility Planning (SUMP) for supporting active mobility in Baltic Sea Region (BSR) cities project made with Interreg BSR. It aims to promote sustainable and active means of transportation, encouraging a healthier lifestyle and greener cities. The competition celebrates Interreg Cooperation Day, fostering community spirit and cross-border cooperation through shared experiences and EU values.

Competition Details:

  • Title: Active Mobility in Action
  • Duration: September 1 – September 20
  • Platforms: Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter (X)
  • Main Hashtags: #SUMPsforBSRactive & #YOUR_CITYmoves
  • Eligibility: Open to participants from Cesis, Gävle, Gdynia, Greifswald, Panevėžys, Turku and Estonia

Guidelines:

  1. Photo Requirements:
    • Choose a walking or cycling route
    • Reflect the theme of active mobility (e.g., pathways, trails, urban routes, scenic routes, signs for walking/cycling, bicycles, bike racks, walking gear, activity trackers, helmets, other gear etc.).
    • Participants can submit multiple entries, but each photo must be unique.
  2. How to Enter:
    • Post your photo on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter (X).
    • Include the hashtag #SUMPsforBSRactive and #YOUR_CITYmoves (ex. #CESISmoves) in your post.
    • Ensure your account/photo is public so your submission can be viewed and considered.
  3. Caption:
    • Provide a brief caption explaining your photo and how it relates to active mobility.
    • Try to mention your location to showcase diverse environments and communities.

Conditions:

  1. Entry Period:
    • Photos can be submitted starting from September 1.
    • The submission deadline is September 20.
  2. Selection Process:
    • Winners will be selected randomly from the pool of eligible photos.
    • Each valid entry with the correct hashtags will have an equal chance of winning.
    • There will be 3 winners per location
  3. Eligibility Criteria:
    • Entries must be original and not infringe on any third-party rights.
    • By entering, participants grant the organisers the right to use their photos for promotional purposes related to the competition, the SUMPs for BSR project, Interreg BSR and Interreg Cooperation Day.
  4. Winner Announcement:
    • Winners will be announced on each city’s social media channel and published on the webpage and social media channels of SUMPs for BSR project on September 21.
    •  The photos and the winners will be promoted on the interreg.eu social media channels, which have an impact across the entire continent
    • Prizes will be distributed to the winners in their respective cities.

Prizes:

  • Prizes will be decided in each city by the respective departments of the participating cities.

Judging and Rules:

  • Random Selection: To ensure fairness, winners will be chosen randomly using a random number generator from all valid entries.
  • Disqualification: Entries that do not follow the submission guidelines or violate the rules and/ or common sense will be disqualified.
  • Contact: Winners will be contacted via direct message on the platform of their submission.
