Welcome to the MARA project
MARA – Mobility and Accessibility in Rural Areas – is a European project funded by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region programme. It is being put into practice between January 2019 and June 2021.
It aims to improve the accessibility and mobility in touristic remote areas of the Baltic Sea Region by increasing the capacity of transport actors. MARA aims to crosscheck the actual mobility demand of residents and tourists with current mobility offers.
MARA is developing several mobility mapping tools and alternative mobility pilot cases in its partner regions. Have a look here to find out more about the cases.

4th MARA Partner Meeting took place online as a virtual event
Despite the planned visit to Vidzeme in Latvia, MARA Partners had to meet online due to current epidemilogical situation and related restrcitions. The video conference meeting took place on 8-9 September 2020.

The conference Mobile Tartu 2020 focused on the theoretical and methodological aspects of the use of various mobility data and the application of these data in statistics, in smart city and transportation development, and human mobility research.

MARA partners as co-organisers and contributors to Mobile Tartu 2020 International Virtual Conference
The 7th mobility research conference Mobile Tartu was held on 30 June, bringing together leading human mobility researchers from around the world. More than 240 participants from 48 countries contributed to the event.
MARA featured in VASAB newsletter
MARA project was featured in the June edition of VASAB1 newsletter with a special emphasis on the project's role in VASAB Long-Term Perspective for Territorial Development of the BSR within the EUSBSR.
