Stanisław Leszczycki Institute of Geography and Spatial Organization Polish Academy of Sciences (IGSO PAS) was founded in 1953 (initially as the Institute of Geography PAS). The Institute is an important research centre in Poland in the fields of socio-economic geography, physical geography as well as spatial organization. We are pleased to present you the latest monograph "Forest cover changes and landscape sustainability – a retrospective study in cultural borderland" edited by Jan Marek Matuszkiewicz. On 22 January (Wednesday) at 10 a.m. in the seminar room on the ground floor of the Institute, PhD Inta Dimante-Deimantovica from Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology will have a presentation titled: Is microplastic the proxy of the Anthropocene and what it has to do with Cladocera subfossils? 
Elsevier has published a scientific monograph of the team of authors under the direction of Dr. Andrzej Affek entitled Ecosystem Service Potentials and Their Indicators in Postglacial Landscapes: Assessment and Mapping. The book combines elements of the academic textbook (presenting in a concise form the current state of knowledge in the field of ecosystem services) with a transdisciplinary methodical and application study on the assessment of the potential of nature on a regional scale and its value for people.
